Every morning, when I brush my teeth, I start a mental to do list. I’m usually ambitious, so I load it with bold, inspiring projects and I get excited! Every evening, in those quiet moments when I hold the toothbrush in my left hand, I think about the to do list once more.

There was a time when I took pride in being busy. Checking my Inbox made me feel important. Then, the tasks kept piling up until they reached a critical mass, and I started to look for a way out.

Technology, Steven Spielberg says, “interrupts our own story, interrupts our ability to have a thought or a daydream, to imagine something wonderful, because we’re too busy bridging the walk from the cafeteria back to the office on the cell phone.”

Most of the guys Spielberg observed were probably checking their email. And can you blame them? People I work with expect me to read and reply back in a matter of 15 to 30 minutes, and not checking my Inbox for a longer period of time makes me feel uneasy.

Being aware of email interruptions and the productivity they cut helped me changed for the better. It turned out that not just me, but the whole Silicon Valley fights to reduce email and increase productivity.

How to receive less email

Quandora is among the apps that help you reduce the emails you get daily. We believe that you team should learn new skills on a dedicated platform, not by sending messages that sometimes end up unanswered or even worse, in the Trash folder.

It’s a Q&A platform that enables every member of a group to write a question and to receive a specific answer. So no more nagging emails from co-workers! Information is stored and even when a team member leaves, his knowledge holds on.

Quandora is integrated with Slack, a software that aims to make you “less busy”. In short, it’s a platform that allows you to share thoughts, all kind of documents and more. “I am basically in love with Slack,” said Tony Conrad, who founded About.me. “It took us less than 24 hours to get everyone on board (as you know, people are resistant to change), and it is amazing.” The tool quickly conquered entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley.

Imagine that all the emails you receive from your co-workers simply vanish. “We’re on a mission to make your working life simpler, more pleasant and more productive,” Slack says on its webpage. The tool helps you keep track of all your ideas and info in one place.

Quandora and Slack are great together and you should try them, if you’re not already a user. Share knowledge, work better and reduce email.

Happy Knowledge Sharing!

Looking for a great way to ask questions and build knowledge with your co-workers? Quandora enables simple, efficient knowledge sharing with your team, way more fun than a mailing list or a forum. Try Quandora
